FeedBurner is Slow

Icon, Feedburner is slow.

FeedBurner has been amazingly slow this week. It takes literally days for my new blog posts to make it into the feeds. This kind of takes away from the benefits of doing daily posts.

FeedBurner is not a complicated system, it just takes your feed and turns it into its feed with some minor changes. I know Google owns this now so they need to be getting their best and brightest on this. It’s not new, people have been complaining about FeedBurner forever. It’s how you get Google to put ads in your feeds. But for me and many other people, it’s getting to the point where it’s just not worth it anymore. If people don’t get notified that I’m posting, then what’s the point of even doing it. The process works perfectly without Feedburner, just no ads. Notification is substantially more important than ads.

FeedBurner needs to have, at least internally, a rule that a blog post will make it into the feed within 15 minutes of it being posted to the original feed. If that doesn’t happen, alarm bells need to go off. But, days? Really?

Google needs to get on the ball or everyone’s going to leave. Feeds are the lifeblood of blogs. If FeedBurner actually makes them this much worse, then FeedBurner, and Google, will be taken out of the process.
